Rebecca Loomis is a writer of young adult fiction with a focus on fantasy, dystopian, and science fiction. She favors strong independent women as her primary characters and mainly writes in first person present. She currently lives in central Oklahoma with her husband, Greg, and goldendoodle, Treble. She grew up in Red Oak, Texas, a suburb of Dallas. She attended Oklahoma Christian University and graduated in 2014 with a degree in Music Education. She is a public school elementary music teacher, writing books in her free time.
Rebecca is passionate about world building and developing characters, especially in the context of young adult fiction. Her first novel was her motivation to follow her dream of becoming a published author. Despite knowing the difficulties and obstacles in becoming an author, she is determined to continue this journey.
One of the reasons Rebecca writes is because she wants to create a safe place for young adult readers. Being an avid YA reader herself, she knows the kind of things that are filling current novels such as explicit romance and excessive language. Her books are free of these fillers, opting instead to focus on the story and character growth. She hopes to one day be a well-known author and be featured in school libraries across the U.S. This is the dream that inspires her to keep writing.
Rebecca fully believes none of this would be possible without the Lord’s guidance and help. Her faith is the foundation for everything she does and will do. She is grateful for her Christian family and their support as she continues her writing journey. She is also thankful for her friends and family who have read her rough drafts, given editorial advice, and a shoulder to cry on. She is encouraged and almost speechless by the love and support she has received over the last four years.
